In the last year-and-a-half I’ve shot about 150 DIY and home decor videos for Builders Warehouse. Most of this work was done in my studio, as other blogs will attest to. And many layers of paint later I’ve produced a massive vault of video content for this DIY client. It’s content that’s getting a ton of engagement on social, boosting their SEO on their new ecommerce site and building their YouTube audience.
TIME FOR A NEW VIDEO TOP AND TAIL
The top and tail as well as elements of design for these videos was starting to feel a little tired, so I blacked out the windows and doors in my studio and hunkered down to create a new animated intro using stop-motion.
ITS ALL ABOUT THE HOME
Builders is a home-improvement retailer and at the heart of their proposition is the home. Planning and reimagining your home is what leads customers to Builders. So I used house plans as the backdrop for the stop motion — simplified but immediately recognisable for what it is. The logo animation is only 3 seconds long, so the visual concept had to be very obvious.
It took me a day from start to finish, and I’m very happy with the end result. Have a look at it here and in action in one of the revamped DIY videos that I shot.
